          My great interpretors!
Retha studied Illustration and Graphic Design at the University of Kansas.  It was there that she learned her love for watercolor and painting the human form.  After working for several years in the graphic design field, she turned her attentions to fine art and portraiture.
Through her use of color, composition, and sensitivity to the people she paints, Retha has become a national award winning watercolor artist.
Retha recently returned from Shanghai, China where she was asked to teach workshops for leading Chinese art institutes in Nanjing and Hangzhou.  "They are so interested in Western styles and techniques.  It was amazing to be able to have this experience.  The auditoriums would be packed with 400-500 students on a Monday night— just to see my power point presentation!"
Retha is a spokesperson for the watermedia paint manufacturer Dr. Ph. Martins in Golden, Colorado.  Please feel free to direct any questions about Doc Martin products her way.
Her work can be seen in Brandon Artists Guild Gallery in Brandon, VT, Southern Vermont Art Center in Manchester, VT or by contacting her for a private viewing in her Pittsford, VT studio.
Retha is currently teaching watercolor in Shelburne VT, through the Shelburne Art Center.
