"As an artist, capturing not only the likeness but the emotion of an object has always intrigued me.  Being able to paint a moment in time that others can connect with is a challenge that I love.  Painting for me is beyond just reproducing  what I see... It is the ultimate form of storytelling."

  Retha takes the inspiration for her most recent series of work from travels both regional and international.  In September of 2006, she collaborated with Dr. Ph. Martins paints to teach watercolor workshops in two of the most celebrated art institutes in China.

  She has won awards nationally for her work, and still competes in juried shows around the country.  Retha teaches watercolor workshops both locally and abroad and takes commissioned works from her Pittsford, Vermont studio.  Her work can be seen in the Brandon Artists Guild Gallery in Brandon, Vermont ( www.brandonartistsguild.org ) and in Artist's Magazine (May 2007), American Artist Magazine and Watercolor Magic Magazine (June 2007).
